What is Linux system A Linux file system is a structured collection of files on a disk or a partition. A partition is a segment of memory and contains some specific data. In machine there can be various partitions of the memory. Every partition contains a file system.




In a computer, a file system, sometimes written file system is the way in which files are named and where they are placed logically for storage and retrieval.

Types of Linux File System:-


1.ordinary/regular files :- all files a user come under 

these category of files it includes data files ,programmed file , object file etc..

2. directory file :- for each directory their is a file by

the same name as the directory which counters information all the information file and sub directory inside it is automatically created

3. device file :- these are special files typically associated with input/output such as printers,hardiness,Cd rooms etc .the output directory to the device file is transmitted on to the description physically device associated with file name

1 /bin :- the directories contain executable 

programmer file in this directories one can find the files for the Linux commands this directory stores one the system usable files

2. /dev :- this directory contains the special devices 

for example -the printers may be file non as PEN in this directories the hard-disk may Br non file in this hard disk

3. /etc :- this directory contains all the system wide 

configuration information as text file

4. /usr :- this directory contains the home directories 

of all the user source text for the online manually page

5. /lib :- this directories contains all library files

6. /temp :- this directory contains all temporary files

 which is every deleted from the system

7. /mnt :- this directory contains where is the storage device other than hard disk,

8. /kernel :- this directory contains all the kernel specific codes
